I’ll be tabling for Sparkplug Books at the Small Press Expo this weekend, September 19th and 20th, in Bethesda, MD.
Sparkplug superstar Jenny Flax and I will be at table N11 with a bunch of great Sparkplug postcards, mini comics, and graphic novels!
I’ll also have Vortex and my new risograph mini comic Sphere Fear, published by Yeah Dude Comics. Come by my table and say hi, it’s my first SPX and I’m really excited!
I’ll be in Portland this Friday for the Sparkplug Fall Books Release Party at Floating World Comics! Elijah Brubaker and I will be celebrating the release of our books, Reich #12 and Vortex.
Then Saturday I’ll be tabling with Sparkplug Books at Short Run in Seattle.
I signed off on the digital proof of Vortex but I’m really excited to see the collection in print for the first time! Hopefully I’ll see some of y’all this weekend. If you’ve never met me before, this is what I look like:

I’m getting emotional preparing Vortex for the printer. I’ve been tinkering with it off and on since June 2011. It feels bittersweet to close the files for the final time and move the project to my archive folder…

We’ve added some new rewards during our campaign that may intrigue y’all:
One 13×16″ CMYK digital print on semi-gloss photo paper with white border. Colors will be slightly different because of the printing process. Ships rolled in a tube with a pair of 3d anaglyph red and blue glasses.

Yesterday Sparkplug Books launched a Kickstarter campaign for their fall books: Reich #12 and Vortex.
I’m super stoked about this! Vortex will collect all four mini comics in a definitive edition with a cover by my partner Glade Hensel:

I started Vortex, my first graphic novel, on June 4th, 2011 and I’m looking forward to holding a copy in my pixel-stained hands. This summer I’ve poured over every page, fixing mistakes, editing some text, messing with the patterns, and redrawing pages. I’m really proud of the final book and, if you like psychedelic sf, I think you’ll dig it! Please support this campaign with a share or a preorder. I’d really appreciate it!
