Halfway through the Sparkplug Fall Books Kickstarter

Hi y’all, we’re past the halfway point of the Sparkplug Fall Books Kickstarter to crowdfund the collected Vortex and Elijah Brubaker’s Reich #12!

First of all, a big Thank You to everyone who’s backed our project so far!!! At over $2,000, we’re almost a third of the way funded. If you’re unfamiliar with Kickstarter, we only see a cent when we meet or surpass our goal of $6,450 by October 3rd. Your help will make these books a reality – if you’d like to see a print Vortex collection or the end of Reich, please consider buying a reward or sharing our project on social media. We appreciate it!

Two of the rewards that we’re offering are my original art – a 9×12″ India ink drawing or a 2×3′ full-color acrylic painting. These rewards are for a new, custom work (I’ll take your requests for imagery) but I thought I’d post some examples of my previous work:

Hypermorph #103
Hypermorph #103 – 9×12″ India ink drawing.

The Rise of the Miizzzards
The Rise of the Miizzzards – 2.5×4′ acrylic painting.

If some original artwork interests you, we’re offering it at a discount through the Kickstarter – $75 for the 9×12″ India ink drawing and $250 for the 2×3′ acrylic painting.

Surreal Landscapes Opens this Thursday at Gallery Black Lagoon

I’ve got some paintings and drawings in Surreal Landscapes, a show curated by my friend Cari Palazzolo. There’s a bunch of other awesome Austin artists in it also. There’s a reception this upcoming Thursday. Here’s the flyer:

The flyer samples this watercolor I finished recently, “Landscape with Reptoid Skull”:

I’ve also been working on a large acrylic painting:

Stop #107 on the East Austin Studio Tour: Second Weekend

Thanks to everyone who came out to our place on the East Austin Studio Tour last weekend! Those who couldn’t make it, there’s still this upcoming weekend. We’ll be open to visitors from 11am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday with free beer, snacks, and art.

Here’s how my studio is looking during the interstitial:

If you look closely on the bookshelf on the left, you can see an old broken toy Grimlock. Is that worth anything? The painting on the easel in the middle is something that I intended to finish during last weekend (working on it while people stopped by). I didn’t get very far, though; I forgot how hard it is to actually work on anything during E.A.S.T. On the right, in the background, you can see a collection of Gold County Paper Mill merch that I have for sale. On the right, in the foreground, you can see two screens that I got burned at Industry Screenprint this past week. I plan on using them to print a new Miizzzard screenprint for next weekend.

Hypermorph Drawings and Miizzzard versus Wojrollox Paintings

My blog and site are mostly done, but I’m still tweaking. I’ll let y’all know when I stop tinkering with this. Please let me know if anything’s broken or looks weird.

I went to Houston this past weekend to clean up my old room at my parents’ house. I had to sort through so much artwork, so many drawings of cyborg dragons and spike- and muscle-ridden dinosaurs. It gave me some ideas. I’ll scan some of my old drawz to post eventually.

More importantly, my Hypermorph show at Domy Books Houston went down on 10/21 so I’m free to post everything. Over the next week I’ll be posting what was on each wall. Here’s a shot of the opening with the eastern wall that I’ll post details from this time:
